I mentioned a couple of days ago that I have very little knowledge of Indian religions, including Hinduism. However, there are a couple gods that I can identify. Hanuman, the monkey god, is the first, and I photographed a giant one in India on the way back from Mysore. The other is Ganesh, the elephant god, which I feature today.
I found this statue at a corner of a fruit market in Little India. I suppose the monkey and elephant more easily stand out for me as a somewhat ignorant Westerner.
It’s a decidedly messy picture with clutter, a water bottle, and a random person. It’s a snapshot, really. But, I like it, oddly, for documenting a small everyday slice of Singapore. Plus, the rich greens and reds, along with the golden Ganesh, make for a harmonious mixture of colors.
