I met Jyoti for the first time at the early February Drink and Click. There were more subjects with diverse backgrounds than usual at that event. Jyoti and Alex, who I featured yesterday, are different from the typical wannabe models.
I’ve gradually eased into portraiture, though I don’t think it’s my best photographic subject. But, I continue to practice, though mainly for fun at these social events. However, shooting different kinds of people allows me to get more familiar with this style of photography. Experience and practice are essential on the road to mastery.
Beyond urban landscapes, I bought the Fujifilm GFX 50R for creating portraits. The big and slightly slow camera is perfect for considered portrait making. I don’t like the frenetic shoots that are often portrayed in movies, where the model changes position every 2 seconds. Jyoti was a pleasure to work with. You can see her calm and relaxed expression.
