We got a detailed tour of the University of Tulsa campus during our visit. Though we didn’t go inside some of the key buildings. No doubt a concession during the pandemic. Even so, my son got a good feel of the place — which was our primary purpose. Online videos and photographs are useful but don’t compare to actually experiencing the campus first hand.
We did go inside the student union, which did impress me with its size and dining options. They had a mall-like food court with local and national chains. My older son goes to Trinity University in San Antonio, which has about 2,500 students. The University of Tulsa is only about 600 more students, but the campus and facilities look a lot larger.
As I mentioned yesterday, most of the buildings are new. Architecturally, it lacked a little character, not having any of the patina that comes with age or having impressive star-architect designed buildings. I did like this staircase, however, that I found in the student union. The scale of the building belies its relatively small student body. While not flashy, the campus is immaculate and well-appointed.
