My favorite store in Downtown Disney, an outdoor shopping mall adjacent to Disneyland, is the Wonderland Gallery. This gallery featured original and reproduction artwork from the Disney parks and movies. They also had the pieces in different sizes, from postcards to giant wall art.
Unlike World of Disney and other souvenir stores, this gallery and a feeling of some exclusivity. Instead of cheap trinkets and T-shirts, their artwork taps into the rich visual history of Disney. I was tempted to buy something for the walls, but with limited space at home, I decided against it. Being selfish, I was determined to display my own art instead of someone else’s.
Every day, the gallery had a different Disney artist at work. I spend some time watching them. Unexpected was their rotatable easel, which you can see used here, along with a classic Mickey Mouse under sketch.
