The Disneyland Hotel is one of three Disney owned hotels around Disneyland. The remaining constellation of hotels, both fancy and basic, are third-party properties. In our earlier family vacations, more than a decade ago, we stayed off property. That better fit our budget at the time. This time, we decided to splurge, opting for something closer to the parks.
Located at the other end of Downtown Disney, we considered this hotel, though we ultimately decided against it. However, we were curious to see what it was like.
Started in 1955, the Disneyland Hotel is the original hotel in the area. I didn’t know its rich history, but this property was initially developed by a third party. Disney bought the property in 1988, and much has changed during its 66-year history. This waterslide was added in 2012 and echos the original signage and the design of the first monorail.
