I’m wrapping up Austin’s historic snow and cold-snap coverage with this 3rd snow-covered tree. This is my favorite. And the 22.5mm equivalent wide-angle with the Fuji 15mm-45mm kit lens added some drama to the structural branch formation.
The investigations and possible criminal charges have just started in the epic failure of the Texas electrical grid. In the United States, we have the eastern grid, the western grid, and the Texas grid. Texas has always had an independent streak, being a separate country before joining the United States in 1845.
I’ve always assumed that the separate electrical grid was based on the desire for independence. What I found out, however, is that this was mainly a cost-cutting move. By keeping a separate system, Texas didn’t have to abide by federal guidelines, which required more cold-weather precautions. Now we know how that went. Doing sub-par work bits you ultimately in the end.
