We are moving into the thick of the neon adorned structures in Radiator Springs. We had a nice bit of classic red neon yesterday at Luigi’s. But, the green and purple seem like an unusual combination.
The Cars movies are based on a fictitious town off Route 66, and much of the structures are inspired by real Route 66 buildings. Ramone’s supposedly takes after the U-Drop Inn in Shamrock, Texas, built in 1936. The historic structure fell into disrepair but was recently restored.
In the movie, Ramone’s is a body shop specializing in custom paints. The character was voiced by Cheech Marin, a famous personality and part of the Cheech & Chong comedy act.
