The Getty Center is more like a hilltop campus or a modernist Italian village perched atop hills. There are nearly a dozen buildings that comprise the facility. There are multiple museum buildings, restaurants, an auditorium, and a research center.
The train, which I talked about yesterday,is technically a tram. It takes less than 10 minutes, I’m estimating. It transports you from the parking lot to a plaza in the middle of the center. These stairs lead from the plaza to the museum entrance.
You are greeted by sculptures as you climb. However, the architecture of The Getty is a work of art by itself. I was blown away by not only its scale but the no-expenses-spared detailing.
