My walk downtown yielded me a closer inspection of the Hawaii Convention Center. Previously, I’ve only seen it from a taxi. The light and airy architecture was anchored by this beefy statue, as I discovered.
Called the Water Giver, it was created by a local artist Shige Yamada. It is said to represent the generosity and expressions of goodwill to newcomers by the Hawaiian people.
Using wide-angle distortion added additional drama. Shooting up from a low angle increased the statue’s presence. While also including the contrasting airy trees and roof structure.
