Beach Couple at Sunset – Honolulu, Hawaii

I was looking to create a framed art piece for a powder room. Searching through my library, I zeroed into this image as a possibility. I had to transform it considerably before it became large-scale print-worthy.

Colorful and cheerful, I doubled down on these characteristics. Enhancing the simplicity and the symmetry, amping up the colors, taking it to an unreal level that almost transcends photography. I’m happy with the results and wanted to feature them here. It goes well beyond what I typically do to my photographs.

Ultimately, my wife and I decided on a different photograph to print. But this image remains a potential piece for the future for a different location. A lot of photographers dislike post-processing. I see it as a continuation of the creative process.

Coincidentally, purely by accident, the image works well for Valentine’s Day too.
