I didn’t expect to find a Japanese Pagoda in the Hilton Hawaiian Village. But there it was. Smack-dab in the middle of the shopping area. I took a picture during the daytime. Effective for documentation, but nothing special. I need more drama.
This is the reason I made a second visit. I figured the blue hour would present itself with better opportunities. It’s really a well-honed trick I use for photographing architecture. The warm man-made lights contrast with the blue skies, plus the shadows conspire to create something more.
The pagodas in Kyoto are even better and more authentic, of course. However, nice to see something exotic in Hawaii without traveling to the far east.
