I like the cheerful interior of Junior’s Restaurant. I’m no interior design expert. However, this liberal use of orange and minimal modernist shapes reminds me of the 1960s.
And, they’re shy about using orange, as you can see. Surprisingly, this 45th Street location opened in 2006 — I thought it was older, not because it wasn’t in tip-top shape. But because of its retro styling. On the other hand, Junior’s uses orange as their company branding. So maybe this 60s design thing was just my misunderstanding.
The booths and deco feel more like a diner rather than a deli. Whatever the intention, they created a bustling place with a good spirit. It’s visually unique too, which always pleases photographers.
