I took a trip to Las Vegas with some friends in the middle of February. I won’t start an extensive series on Vegas just yet, but I wanted to feature several Lunar New Year decorations that I discovered. They seem apropos to the Chinese New Year celebrations I just covered in Austin.
My first stop was the Aria Hotel, where I ate dinner the first night. Then, unexpectedly, I found this simple but large lantern display in the lobby. Curious, I searched for more.
Just around the corner was this scene sealed in a glass display. I don’t know much about the Chinese zodiac other than there are twelve animals. So the cycle repeats after a dozen years. My older son was born in the year of the Rabbit, like this year, two cycles ago, which makes him 24 years old.
