When I experience SXSW, I do so as a local but an outsider. I don’t buy any tickets to the event itself. Rather, I look around for exciting exhibits that are free and open to the public — and there is a good number to choose from. These are marketing events; any company should be enlightened enough to know that a customer is a customer regardless of whether they have an SXSW ticket.
Dolby sponsored the best event I attended at SXSW 2023 — the people who created that immersive sound at movie theaters for years. But they do so much more, so they organized this marketing blitz.
I stayed at Dolby for a while on the first day. Which turned out to be the same venue Dell used last year. Dell had a great setup. However, Dolby’s was even better — it had a nightclub party-like atmosphere — very visual and photo-worthy. I kick off the coverage with this colorful post. It sets the stage.
