I’m wrapping up this Drink and Click series with Virginia, who I met for the first time this January. We are still at The Ballroom in Central Austin.

I first did a regular portrait shoot with Virginia and later found her on her phone, which reminded me of a series I used to do. About five years ago, I made a set of portraits at Drink and Clicks where I shot people using their phones — these were staged. I especially like it when the glow of the phone lit the subject’s face in a dark environment. I resurrected this concept with this portrait.

Often, I used these short Drink and Click interludes to delineate a change in the topic on the blog. Shortly, the blog is going international, documenting a trip I took with my wife to Paris and Switzerland last year — it will be an extensive series. And before we say goodbye to Texas for a while, one last look at Austin, where I tested a new lens I bought for the European trip.
