Even though I’ve already done a mini-series on the Louvre’s interior architecture, I couldn’t resist more architectural drama. And the optimal positioning of two silhouetted tourists added to my visual attraction when I snapped this image.
I believe this was an atrium away from the galleries. The ornate flourishes and backlit columns create a glowing background for the foreground figures.
I shot this at a 29mm equivalent, which in retrospect, I wished I’d used the most expansive 24mm equivalent. The added width might have allowed me to perspective correct and better frame the tourists. I sometimes shoot quickly to capture the scene and forget to consider the optimal framing. The smarter approach would’ve been to rapidly take multiple pictures at different focal lengths like I did in this post.
