I admit I’m like a kid looking out the front of the Metro train. It’s an excellent opportunity for motion blur photography, and I also like trains.
I have a couple of observations from the Paris Metro, shooting both pictures from the same train ride twenty seconds apart. I’m going through train stations in both and notice a difference in the ceilings and the stations. Therefore, unlike other systems, Paris doesn’t have the same monolithic design for every station. Second, the entire front window was available for observation, which means there’s no driver — it’s entirely computer controlled.
My wife and I didn’t take long to figure out the Metro and use it for all our Paris destinations. The smartphone map made it easy, and we became quick at buying tickets. But most importantly, the trains came frequently, and coverage throughout the central city was fantastic. New York City comes closest in America but pales in comparison.
