I went to the Excalibur Hotel via an underground tunnel from the Luxor as I started my Las Vegas hotel photo tour. While dramatic with a castle-like exterior, the interior of the Excalibur was more conventional.
While decorated by faux-stone walls and stunted towers meant to evoke a castle on the inside, a chandelier enhanced with some wide-angle distortion attracted my attention.
At a 24mm equivalent, I could add some interior architectural drama by shooting close to this chandelier and creating leading lines and repeating elements. This picture shows the check-in counter at the Excalibur. Though a value-conscious MGM property and conventionally styled, it is more upscale than the Luxor with its high echo-y lobby and kitschy Egyptian theming.
