I’m in the New York-New York casino, mesmerized by the color and glow of the slot machines and other games of chance. But not in the way the casinos intended. As I’ve talked about endless times, I love neon lights, and these games reminded me of them.
In fact, of all the times I’ve visited Vegas, I’ve never gambled. I’m not necessarily against gambling. It’s just that I like photography more and I rather spend the money buying photography gear. I’ve taken pictures of glowing slots in multiple casinos, and no one ever complained. I’m unsure if I was lucky or if the hotels have relaxed rules about photography. And, remember, I’m not using a smartphone but a traditional, dedicated camera.
This picture is from the Aria, another casino I passed through north of New York-New York. The swooping machines in the foreground, the warm glow off the ceiling, and the reflections off the floor make it even more visually rich. The Aria is a more upscale hotel than New York-New York. Do fancier places have a higher glow quotient?
