Vegas with Modern Style

City Center - Las Vegas, Nevada

City Center – Las Vegas, Nevada

On day two in Las Vegas, I met up with some of my high school friends. Despite doing a photo walk of the strip the night before, I was game to document more architecture — in the daytime, which feels a lot different.

While I often like shooting the city at night, the City Center development has unique architecture that looks great during the day. The geometric angles are the most striking. However, the facade also features considerable interest.

The twin Veer Condominiums look lopsided, but they are designed that way. You know, it’s modern architecture, so it has to be different.

What looks like a multi-lane highway is the driveway to the City Center complex. This design is what I complained about in a previous post, calling it pedestrian unfriendly at the sidewalk level. You can see the glass-covered pedestrian walkway that bypasses this mess.

I’m shooting the Aria Hotel from the glass walkway, a framing similar to what I shot the night before. You might see slight reflections off the glass. The massive driveway breaks up the flow of the property, which is my least favorite aspect of the development.
