Little Casino vs. the Monorail

Stage Door Casino - Las Vegas, Nevada

Stage Door Casino – Las Vegas, Nevada

After our big meat-fest dinner at Fogo de Chao, we walked back, desperate to offset the ingested calories. We knew it was a losing game, but we felt safe waking back to the Las Vegas Strip in a pack of eight middle-aged guys.

We were on Flamingo Road again, but east of the strip this time, on the opposite side from the Palms Casino Resort. This peculiar development attracted my curiosity and photographic attention.

The modest and classic-looking Stage Door Casino looks overwhelmed by the concrete structure — part of the tracks for the Las Vegas Monorail. This single-story casino that looks like a convenience store doesn’t look particularly significant; however, sitting there within the jumble of concrete makes it more visually fascinating.
