Tourists and Architecture – Zurich, Switzerland

The threatening rain, which held off for a while, started as an annoying drizzle and turned steady an hour after arriving in Zurich. I balanced an umbrella as I shot.

A group of tourists acted as a perfect counterbalance to the background architecture. It’s not traditional street photography, but they add an element to the image. It’s almost like a family snapshot, though these were strangers who seem amiable to being photographed.

Umbrellas added an unexpected visual element to this image and others I’ll show later. Although the rain was a bummer, it had some photographic benefits.
