Bahnhofstrasse

Bahnhofstrasse - Zurich, Switzerland

Bahnhofstrasse – Zurich, Switzerland

My wife and I walked west until we hit a large street, turned left, and continued southward. We didn’t know the street name at that time, but it featured upscale retail establishments. Unfortunately, they were all closed on Sunday evening.

The rain had let up, and we enjoyed the stroll down a beautiful street with frequent trams passing by. I snapped a picture of a typical store in this district. Vacheron Constantin is a high-end watchmaker — I looked it up. Piaget next store is also watch company. They are both subsidiaries of the Swiss Richemont Group. I suppose it’s not unusual to see high-end watch stores in Switzerland.

As I wrote this post, I looked up the area and found out we were walking on Bahnhofstrasse. Though I know almost no German, just a few words at most, I knew Bahnhofstrasse means Train Station Road — something I picked up in Munich from a trip back in the late 1980s.
