Breathtaking Views, Unfortunate Reflections

Glacier Express View – Switzerland

We traveled west from Chur on the panoramic Glacier Express train, which immediately surrounded us with beautiful landscapes. As we continued, the views only got better. I occasionally shot pictures as we progressed and included a few here. Unfortunately, the reflections off the windows were nearly impossible to eliminate.

The first picture is one of my cleanest, though even this one has a faint greenish reflected line. As you can see, my other photos show considerably more distractions. I knew this going in. I heard about the Glacier Express from YouTube videos and thought it would be a unique experience. The videos and blog posts mentioned the challenge with window reflections.

I briefly considered purchasing a polarizer, which may reduce such reflections but decided against it. In the end, I embraced the limitations and made pictures as a reminder of a wonderful trip rather than striving for perfection. I had a memorable ride with my wife, sister, and mother, the three most important women in my life. These reflections might diminish the pictures but don’t hinder tourists from experiencing the views.
