Details, Hotel Ducs de Bourgogne – Paris, France

Hotel Ducs de Bourgogne has small but stylish rooms in a wonderful part of town. It was our second hotel in Paris and is ranked a 4-star, which is excellent but not luxurious. Still, I found little details that made the experience memorable.

We found this welcome pastry on the table. I don’t know what they are called, but they looked like giant macarons. Behind the treats were two glasses and a cute glass bottle of water. That beats the plastic cups and plastic Dasani water bottles in the usual American hotels.

There wasn’t much space for decorations, but this ledge over the bed served as an artistic focal point. On both sides of the bed were skinny wood closets, the only storage in the room. Other details that I wished I had photographed were brass toggle switches for the lights and old-fashioned ceramic-coated door handles.

The compactness of the room, coupled with the intricate detailing, created a cozy and intimate jewel-box like aesthetic.
