Urban Night Blur #3

Motion Blur, Rue de Montpensier – Paris, France

For the last of my night blur mini-series, I have this spot only a short block from yesterday’s photo. As I explained yesterday, I snap pictures as I walk the city, not knowing where I’m shooting. Whatever interests me gets a capture — one of the enormous benefits of digital with the downside of combing through an overstuffed digital library.

It was not until I recreated my walking path using Google Maps that I figured out where I went and what struck my fancy. Without this post-photography research, I wouldn’t have known that today’s and yesterday’s photos were less than 100 feet apart.

I perspective corrected this image like I often do now, and I managed a desirable and tight urban composition. However, without the small detail of the motion-blurred person, the picture would be utterly boring. I also like the positioning of the person at the corner. The person plus the curved street lines draw the viewer around the corner.
