Artistic Columns, Palais Royal – Paris, France

It took some effort to figure out where this courtyard was with the artistic columns. I used the previous location-identified pictures and looked on Google Maps for a nearby open courtyard. It turned out it was only a couple blocks away from the Louvre.

The Domaine National du Palais Royal was home to the royal family before the Palace of Versailles was built. The 1633 structure, built by Cardinal Richelieu, now features this contemporary art installation in the courtyard.

I thought we stumbled upon this architectural and artistic gem, but my wife knew better. She studied the worthwhile tourist areas in Paris and guided us there. I was unaware until I asked her before writing this post. We were merely passing through. This former palace is another of the numerous lovely places to see in Paris if we have more time. It just gives us more destinations for a future visit.
