I’ve featured the remarkable interior architecture of Opéra Garnier, but as an opera house, the most important space is the auditorium, and here it is. As you can see, the gold and red decor in this grand room attracts smartphone-wielding tourists. I got my shot, too, with my dedicated Fujifilm camera, as you can see below.
The auditorium seats 1,979 and has the largest stage in Europe, accommodating up to 450 performers. The ornate golden walls hint at the opulence, but I haven’t shown you the best part. That will come tomorrow.
The widest I could go was a 24mm equivalent since I took only a single lens, the Fujifilm 16-80mm f4. The downside was I couldn’t capture the entire space in a single frame. I took multiple pictures, documenting separate sections. In retrospect, perhaps I should have used my smartphone, too, since it has a super wide angle. But, of course, with not the same level of quality.
