What stands out in the impressive Grand Foyer covered in gold leaf? I particularly like the chandeliers, especially since they line up, creating a repeating element in the room. I made this picture to highlight the chandelier and their relationship to the room.
Unlike yesterday’s wide angle at a 24mm equivalent, I zoomed in slightly to a 44mm equivalent. That was enough to emphasize the chandelier and compress the space between the repeating fixtures. I could’ve zoomed in more, but then I would’ve lost the context of the room.
As a bonus, I also created compression between the repeating golden columns on the left. My only nit was the golden chandelier, which blended with the background, making it harder to see. A golden fixture within a neutral stone room would’ve looked better photographically. Either way, it’s an impressive room, though the compression makes the place look a bit smaller and, dare I say, even intimate.
