Palace Pastel, Palace of Versailles – Versailles, France

I found this odd but wonderful image inside the Palace of Versailles, which was purely serendipitous. I don’t recall if the interior lighting was this pastel-like or if it’s the auto-white balance interpretation of the scene. Either way, add in the motion blur and the composition, and you get a wonderful feeling of dynamism and serenity.

The wonderful architecture, complete with the hallway of busts and the light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel effect, seems almost like a religious experience. I didn’t get complete symmetry with the people, but it was close enough to create a balance.

I wish I could say I saw and planned this image, but I didn’t. I was in slow-shutter motion blur mode and snapped a picture that looked interesting. All the other details I mentioned just fell into place. Of course, I added some drama via post-processing.
