Downtown Telluride

Downtown – Telluride, Colorado

Thus far, Mountain Village, where I stayed in Colorado, has provided some scenic landscapes. However, our primary destination was Telluride, the big attraction fifteen minutes away. With a population of just over 2,000, it’s not a large place but a compact and beautiful upscale destination.

I snapped a few pictures capturing the flavor of the place. Of course, shooting architecture here isn’t like shooting in New York City. We have low-slung, quaint brick buildings instead of glass and steel. On the other hand, NYC doesn’t have a majestic mountain as a backdrop.

The New Sheridan has been a hotel since 1895 and named that since the original Sheridan Hotel burned down in 1893. The hotel recently underwent an extensive renovation. Though much of the retail establishments appear recent, the historic fabric of downtown appears to be intact. It has a small-town charm surrounded by impressive mountains.
