For my final post from the Kaka’ako Farmers Market, I offer a wide view of the grounds. The event spanned two parking lots on either side of Ala Mona Blvd in 2022. On my 2025 visit, the other location was now under construction, and they used a lot on the other side of Ward Avenue. With numerous large trees, this side of the farmers’ market is cooler, temperature-wise, and visually more attractive.
I’m still using a fisheye lens, as I’ve done on all the Hawaiian posts in this series. However, the fisheye distortion is significantly reduced. While obviously a wide-angle, the crazy distortion is nearly in check and probably not noticeable unless I mention it. I achieved this simple feat by cropping into the center of the frame. With a 51MP sensor, I still produce a high-resolution image, even with extensive cropping.
Experimenting with the fisheye has been more enjoyable than expected, and blogging about it three years later has proven entertaining. I’ve only extensively used this fisheye lens in another place—Las Vegas. Here’s a post from 2024 showing Vegas casinos with massive distortion.
