First Presbyterian Church in Taylor

First Presbyterian Church – Taylor, Texas

From the dynamic, fun, and perhaps gimmicky fisheye photos from Hawaii, we make a significant change in location and photographic style. I’m starting an architectural series from Taylor, Texas, a small city northeast of Austin. Although the photographs may look subdued and different from Hawaii, I’m using the same Fujifilm GFX 50S II camera, but with the Fujifilm GF35-70mm f4.5-5.6 zoom lens.

I’m starting the series with this handsome brick structure, built in 1912. Although it doesn’t resemble a classic church, the First Presbyterian Church replaced a wood-framed structure from 1878. This website indicates the church is in the Classic Revival style.

I enjoy the calmness that comes with creating these types of images. Although it has none of the craziness of the wormhole, the late afternoon light adds warm tones to the classic architecture.
