There are several restaurants at the top of Marina Bay Sands, though we didn’t plan in advance to reserve a table. One of the places had openings at the bar, and my mom and I decided to have a drink and take in the view. She liked the Singapore Sling she had earlier in the day, and ordered that, but she preferred the one from the original Long Bar.

I’ve never been up to the top of the hotel, and I was looking forward to the view. Unfortunately, it was uncharacteristically hazy, which slightly diminished the experience and the photography.

Talking to the staff, they said fields being burned in neighboring regions cause the smoky conditions. They said it happens a few times a year, especially in the dry season between June and October. The view remains dramatic, towering over the skyline on the other side of the bay.
