We made it back to the casa, and I shot this bird’s-eye view from the balcony. The nighttime creates an entirely different feeling from these daytime pictures from the same perspective. As I mentioned yesterday, it’s the shadows that add that extra dimension at night. The warm glow from the street also helps.
I switch to the Sony 50mm f/1.4 GM on the A7C, a significantly more capable lens for low-light shooting. With a maximum aperture of f/1.4, compared to the 24-70mm zoom’s f/2.8, I have 4x the light-gathering capability. That means a lower ISO produces higher-quality images.
We can see the on-street seating from the pizza restaurant where we had lunch. Though only five or so hours earlier, this first photowalk through Old Havana made me considerably wiser and more comfortable compared to the beginning of the day.
