I didn’t post this picture because of its excellent photography. Instead, it’s an observation and comment on what I saw in Cuba.

Are you familiar with S.A.D., the Standard American Diet? Yes, that poor, ultra-processed food we all know and (probably) love is prevalent in the United States. Well, apparently that diet has spread to fairly isolated communist countries, too.

Take a look at this cafe’s menu, and most of it looks very familiar. Are they just catering to the tourist trade? Perhaps. But tourism is down quite a bit in Cuba, so someone else is keeping this place in business. Of course, there’s also a good selection of liquor, which you can see to the right of the menu.
