Street Portrait #3

Street Portrait - Havana, Cuba

Street Portrait – Havana, Cuba

I shot the first two pictures of this mini-series within 20 seconds of each other, which means the two locations were basically next to each other. I was on a roll, making two satisfying street portraits so quickly. I made this picture about 3 minutes later.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but these guys look tough, particularly the person on the right. They weren’t posing, and I genuinely think I caught them by surprise. I was probably quick enough to confuse them, and they didn’t know how to react.

Nobody said anything, and I continued along. It was only later that I discovered their expression. Maybe they are the nicest people, but you can’t tell from this picture. I need to read the room better to avoid getting myself in trouble.
