A few weeks ago, I featured a picture of the Chrysler Building from my hotel room. I mentioned that it’s one of my favorite buildings in New York City. Today, we get to see it from the ground and in Black and White.
The first two photographs were shot from 42nd Street. The dark mirrored building in the first picture is the Hyatt Grand Central, located next to the Grand Central Station. I know that hotel well. Back in the 1980s, my friend and I would have relaxed conversations there after studying at the NY Public Library.
It took me a bit of searching on Google Maps Street View to discover where I shot the next two views of the Chrysler Building. It turns out it was from 3rd Avenue near 41st Street. I believe I shot both pictures from the same place but used different focal lengths. The wider one is at a 24mm equivalent, while the last photo is at 53mm.
