We’ve arrived at our main tourist destination for the day, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, better known as The Met. It was one of my wife’s must-visit places. If you’ve followed the blog for a while, you know I’m not always the biggest fan of museums, particularly art museums. Call me uncultured, but I often find them static and removed from everyday life. Oddly, I enjoy art galleries more than museums, especially when the artist is there showing their work.

When I visit museums, I’m often more interested in the building’s architecture than the artwork itself. The best museums invest considerable effort in creating grand spaces to showcase their collections, and The Met is no exception.

I love the classical details in this sunlit courtyard, and the statues are generously spaced throughout the room. While my wife was busy admiring the individual works of art, I was taking in—and photographing—the overall environment.
