Not far from where we were staying, they were putting the final touches on the JPMorgan Chase Tower in 2025. I visited a few times to check on the progress.
Clearly an extravagant skyscraper, it has the look of a building where the bank spared no expense to create a shining corporate headquarters. And the constraints of the site necessitated some fancy structural work that made the tower even more dramatic. The building uses massive fan-shaped columns and triangular bracing at its base, allowing the much larger tower above to meet the ground on a considerably narrower footprint. You can see some of that structure here in the lower section with the green lighting.
My wife and I joked that our modest bank account at Chase might have helped pay for a single lightbulb in this building.
