At the end of each post, I see an ugly ad placed there automatically by WordPress.com. You see, when I view my posts from my computer and indeed as a WordPress.com user, these ads are hidden. People outside the WordPress community, however, do get these ads from time to time.
I really don’t blame WordPress. They are hosting my blog for free so it just makes sense for them to offset costs or make some money off my content. But, I’ve worked hard to upgrade the look of my site (I hope you have noticed) and I feel that these ads detract.
I’ve decided to pay extra to WordPress.com and get these ads removed. Many websites these days are so cluttered. I’m trying to do my part to reduce the noise.
Thank you for doing this! Life is cluttered enough, and this is a step in the right direction.
You’re welcome.
I upgraded — I wanted the fonts and colors and additional storage space — months ago (it was cheaper then) and I don’t know whether it makes my blog ad free. I’ve never looked at my blog from a public computer. I’ll have to take a look when I’m somewhere else. Thanks for the heas up.
It might be included in WordPress’ package deal.
I read all your posts and have never noticed the ads. Not sure if that means I have become immune to ads on the Internet or that I am unobservant which would be bad for my photography but would explain my low shooting rate.
Cedric, I think the ads are not showing up since you are a signed in WordPress user.
I know exactly what you mean, it is something I have recently done as well purely to rid my self of ads! Keep up the excellent (and now clutter free) posts!
I usually read you blog via Feedly, and I don’t think I have ever seen any add before. Font is also different.
Feedly is a good option, it seems to clear some of the clutter away.
I use firefox with the add-on called “Adblock plus.” Everything is nice and clutter-free.
Good to know, Michael.
