I snapped this photo in Japan back in 2014. I noticed the near symmetry, yet contrast, of a student in a hoodie with backpack standing next to a business man (Salaryman, as the Japanese say) in a suit. They were both buying train tickets at an automated kiosk.
I used a Pentax Q7 with the 39mm equivalent prime lens. I shot a lot of street photography with this small combo, and my perceived “inconspicuousness” emboldened me to take more photos in pubic, where I would feel more self-conscious with a larger camera. Part of the Deep Blacks collection.
