One more portrait from last weekend’s visit, to the F1 Fan Fest, in downtown Austin. Rayne was spinning her hula hoop to attract visitors to a nearby bar. Note the motion blur in her arm. I thought the hoop would make an interesting way to frame the portrait.
Most cameras do an amazing job these days. Shooting at night would tax my capabilities as well as the camera’s, several years ago. Now, these kind of photos are so easy to take.
I used the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II with the Olympus 17mm f1.8 lens. After shooting with various point and shoots recently, I was pleased with the way this camera worked, on the streets at night. And even if the Ricoh GR, for example, has a larger sensor, I consistently make better images with the OM-D. Part of this is due to the Olympus’ focusing performance and image stabilization, but equally important, I think the Olympus RAWs and JPEGs are far superior to the Ricoh’s.
