For the entire lacrosse season, I’ve never been in the stands, until last week. My preferred vantage point is along the sidelines shooting the game. I got to the field early for Senior Night, and I took in the junior varsity game as I waited.
I also had my Olympus PEN-F with me, which I almost never do, since I shoot the game with the Nikon D3300 DSLR. I watched the JV game sporadically, while always analyzing for photo ops. These lacrosse fans, along with the setting, but still blinding sun, attracted my attention.
For all my love for mirrorless, DSLRs still do a wonderful job for sports, even the entry-level variety like the D3300. I’ve been thinking for a while about the mirrorless vs. DSLR question for sports. Now that my second season of shooting is coming to an end, I’ll talk about my sports shooting experience soon, in an upcoming post.
