Drink and Click Portrait: Julia

Julia, Drink and Click Portrait – Austin, Texas

I mentioned yesterday that I was starting a new series today. Drink and Click portraits but very different than my previous ones. What I’m doing is an experiment. One that was triggered by the change in equipment, using my new Fujifilm X-T10 instead of the Olympus PEN-F.

More than the camera itself, it’s the Fuji lens, the 56mm 1.2, that influenced me to do something different. That and another key piece of gear which triggered an idea. I’ll go more into my thought process and challenges in subsequent posts.

For today, we have Julia. This was the first time I met her. I made this portrait in late May, as with the rest of the photos in this series.

I have a free monthly newsletter that’s perfect for busy people. Signup for the Newsletter to get the best of my posts, old and new, plus additional content not available anywhere else.

      1. Well ya got a hold of one somehow. 🙂 I never cared for the ring light aesthetic myself, the catchlight is too weird for me. They give a distinct look, that’s for sure! The up close portrait reminds me of Platon’s work.

      2. Yes, I agree. There is a similarity to Planton. Except mine are even tighter, in landscape orientation and in color.
