I met Mia a few times before, and if memory serves, she lives in Colorado and visits Austin from time to time. I hope she’s back in Colorado now because we are in thick of the Texas summer. Though I must say, it’s been cooler than usual so far in Austin. But, I’m sure it’s not as pleasant as Colorado.
I’ve been using the Fujifilm 56mm f1.2 lens for all the portraits in this series. It’s an excellent lens but one gripe I do have is that the aperture ring is a bit too loose. It’s easy to accidentally knock the ring during the excitement of photography. That was the case here where the aperture is at f1.4 instead of the intended f1.2. In reality, it probably doesn’t make that much of a difference.
You might have noticed that Mia and Milan’s portrait has a black background, while the others are silver. In the middle of the Drink and Click event, I decided to move the lighting to get a simple black background. The silver was created by a shiny corrugated metal fence and while okay, I found it somewhat distracting, even though the large aperture did soften the fence a great deal.
