This is one of my favorite portraits I made in India, of kids at a small store, in a small village some twenty-four miles from Mysore. It didn’t take much skill making this. While the kids look nicely staged, they just arranged themselves, and I just snapped the shutter.
I love how the two adults flank the kids, talking between themselves oblivious of what’s happening. It’s these casual, unplanned photos that make visiting and experiencing foreign countries so enjoyable.
I like the black and white version of this photo even more, which I featured in my book of India and the first edition of my newsletter. But, for the blog, I decided to show the color version. India has such wonderful, vibrant colors and it will be a shame not share this.
