I was testing the Panasonic GM1 in early May, but more importantly, I was documenting downtown Austin during the pandemic. In a stark contrast to the uplifting work of an artist, we have vandals making a political statement.
This was across the street and not very far from the superheroes mural. I was surprised to see this here on the nicer, western side of 6th street with generally higher quality bars. The area is more residential than the famous and dirty East 6th street, east of Congress Avenue.
This was the only bit of commentary I found, however. The area was quiet except for the active construction site for 6 X Guadalupe, the future tallest tower in Austin, and by a significant margin. Apparently, the economic slowdown hasn’t halted Austin’s construction boom. At least, not yet.
