This is the second in the series of bar portraits on Rainey Street. The Bungalow, aptly named, is one of many bungalow-style small houses that were converted into bars. It’s one of the most popular entertainment districts in Austin.
This bar is located next to yesterday’s Lustre Pearl. Shot right after the COVID-19 lockdown in March, I managed to capture the scene completely free of any distractions. Normally, a next to impossible feat.
Like much of the Rainey Street District, new skyscrapers are growing from any available space. The building in the background, under construction, is The Quincy. I featured this 30-story mixed-use building at the start of my Rainey Street series.
