Untamed Lake – Austin, Texas

Despite Austin’s explosive growth, there are lots of views in downtown that look undeveloped. Here, except for the partially obstructed building, we have a mass of trees that look like nature run amok.

I made this picture close to yesterday’s, where Waller Creek empties into Lady Bird Lake. It looks untamed despite its proximity to the central business district. The hike and bike trail, that runs around the lake, mostly remains in a natural setting. The parks here don’t look manicured and formal like the old-world cities. Austin is much too casual for that.

With high contrast, dark shadows, in monochrome, the wetland looks nearly abstract. I suppose that was the point.
